Dallas, GA
My wife and I are considering moving to Dallas, GA with our three Kids that are all under four, but we are concerned because we do not know anything about Dallas. I am a Realtor in Orlando, FL and I will be looking for a new office there, but the main concern is the diversity, schools and crime. Does anyone have any input on Dallas, or would you care to recommend another area?
Thanks

Dallas, GA is a good place
My husband and I moved out to Dallas, GA in 1993 when we first got married. We lived out past Hiram. There was NOTHING out there. But NOW, there is so much! We moved out of that area about 8 years ago, but still live in the same county. I go into Hiram often which is where a lot of shopping, dinning and entertainment is. My son goes to a Paudling County school. It has a Dallas mailing address, but we live in Acworth. The school is Shelton Elem. and it is an excellent school. Try and stay east and north of the city of Dallas. But all in all, I would say that Dallas is a booming city with a lot of opportunity. You are about 45 minutes from the city of Atlanta which is also nice.

Dallas move
Dallas is growing, it is, from what Ive read the fastest growing county in GA.(Paulding county) and the 4th fastest in the U.S.A If you travel along highway 278 you can see houses being put up within a leap from each other. While this is great for your home value , (when you own one) it stinks for privacy. There is plenty to be offered in Paulding county especially on 278. Not sure how the crime is but if you google "dallas ga detailed" it will bring up a good description of city. Ive never had a problem in dallas or paulding, but when more people move in ,more crime does too and Atlanta is expanding westward and northward.

Another Floridian
Hello.......
I myself, have been considering a move. I've been a Floridian all my life, raised my kids, enjoying my grandchildren...so I have been researching Georgia. I think your state is beautiful. Every summer I go to Nashville for vacation, so I being in the "middle" would be awesome. Plus I'd be near some of the best NASCAR speedways! Whew! I may have grandkids...but I still want to have fun! Have done a little research on Paulding County... One summer I did stay in Hiram...seemed to a nice area, too! I welcome suggestions...think a Florida "lady" could handle the weather? Ours is so unpredictable..rain, sunny, hot, hotter, cloudy...hurricanes..tornados..

Welcome
I have worked in this area(Hiram and Dallas) for 7 months now and love the area.Paulding is the 10th fastest growing county in the country.we are about 45 minutes from the Atlanta raceway but not sure how far Bristol is. We are home to Travis tritt the country music star and at the foothills of some beautiful mountain ranges. The weather is unpredictable anymore, seems to be that way everywhere. Its currently about 72 degrees with a very pleasant breeze.Hope to see you here soon

Dallas is in Paulding County, and there's a fairly active board for that area online as well which you may find helpful. See it at www.paulding.com

I dont live far from Dallas ga. Only about fifteen minutes. The area is growing. There is a lot of new housing available and new resturants being built all around. Here is the down fall. Our schools are at 125%. Due to all the new housing we are extremly over crowded. Paulding county also leads the state of ga in METH use. I have three children. Two in highschool, one in elementary and I wish I hadnt ever subjected them to all the undiserable things in Paulding Co.

You probably have made a decision already regarding Dallas, GA, but I recommend Thomasville, GA. My niece, her husband, and three sons (now ages 9, 7, and 5) moved there about 3 years ago, and they say it's a marvelous place to raise kids. They chose Thomasville over Macon, GA because Macon, though my hometown (and where my niece is from originally) seems to be deteriorating in some aspects. Thomasville is very family-oriented and community supported. It has excellent sports fields and parks for children, a super YMCA (or is it YWCA for family, and as I understand it, everything is community-supported, not government-supported. I've visited there, and were I having to move with small children, Thomasville would be my first consideration. Climate is great as it's near the GA/FL line, so temperatures are moderate year-round. Thomasville is an old, established city with many generations of families staying there. Real estate seems to be high, but from my observations and from what I hear from my family, it is a GREAT place to raise children.
