I have read good things about winterville, Athens-Clarke county....any pointers. I like small towns but busy and near a city for more to do. We are in our late twenties and have two young boys (one in school)

we come from a pretty rural and poor part of VA but you wouldnt know it buy the new homes here that locals cant afford anymore. We have to travel 45 minutes to VA Beach to shop and have things to do.........So crime, cost of homes, pollution, schools and having things for the kids to do are important. I havent had much luck trying to find the hubby a job.....so far.

any direction or info you can swing my way would be great thanks
Amanda

You might want to check out Warner Robins, GA. We love it there and I finally just got a job back on Robins AFB. So we are moving back in March from New Mexico. There is always something going on and you are close enough to Macon to enjoy the mall, close to Tanger Outlets, and only 1 hour south of Atlanta airport. I really think you'd like it there...

You will love the Athens area... since you are pretty young... you will find Athens appealing. It's a university town... so that gives it a diversity that even larger cities in GA don't have. Athens has a very vibrant downtown.. lots of great local restaurants, coffee houses, galleries, clubs,...very similar in many ways to Charlottesville, VA
Another plus with Athens is that its only an hour away from Atlanta... even closer to the suburbs in Gwinnett CO. Also in Athens.. you can go 10 mins from downtown and be out in the country. I think it offers the best of both worlds.
