So what do you guys think is the best college town in Georgia. For this discussion I will exclude any suburbs of Atlanta and the City of Atlanta and Athens since they are the big players.
So let's get started
Carrollton-University of West Georgia
Columbus-Columbus State University
Augusta-Georgia Reagents University
Savannah-Savannah State University
Statesboro-Georgia Southern University
Valdosta-Valdosta State University
Dahlonega-University of North Georgia
Albany-Albany State University
Fort Valley-Fort Valley State University

I think Statesboro is the most stereotypical college town. UNG has to be near top for natural beauty.

Savannah. Three colleges, SCAD, AASU, SSU, with a very livable, and walkable downtown.

Milledgeville
Rome
Statesboro
Savannah
Columbus
Macon
Albany

FVSU is Fort Valley, but the town doesnt have the amenities you'd expect from most college towns. There's literally nothing there. The kids have to drive to Warner Robins or Perry just to go to Wal-Mart and go to Warner Robins or Macon for nightlife. Macon hosts after parties following events like their homecoming.

There are several random Middle and South Georgia towns even smaller in population than Fort Valley that DONT have a college that have more lively downtowns and at least a Wal-Mart. I'd nominate them for worst college town in the state and probably would be in the running for worst anywhere.

Kids get bored and drive to the Wal-Mart in Perry at night just to walk around. Think about that for a second. Perry is a sleepy, small, quiet, family oriented town and at times they walk around a Wal-Mart there for leisure when bored.

While Fort Valley leaves a lot to be desired as a college town, and may very well be be the worst among the GA college towns, it's still better than Itta Bena, MS (home to MS Valley State), Lorman, MS (Alcorn), or Grambling, LA, just to name 3.
