Shameful to say the least.
Even some 3rd tier cities in Ga can beat that.

The guy just resigned. And he is willing to continue serving until replacement can be found. Have car will travel. There are plenty of jobs within a 30 mile radius of the city. Stop complaining and do like they do in Atlanta, get in your car and drive to the job, that's if you really want to work. "Valley Partnership" baby!! Welcome back Mr. Happy.

Both these cities are really taking off compared to Augusta. Columbus is gaining 30,000-45,000 new residents by 2011 which will push the city population about 20,000+ people higher than Augusta. I am in real estate development, and I say lookout for the next hottest areas, that being Columbus and Macon.

I still think Savannah's got both cities beat...with a possible exception being Augusta.
No hate to our sister cities though Macon & Columbus are beautiful cities with lots of potential.

I agree with you... Athens is the only one I would live in. I love visiting Savannah, but doubt I could live there. Disgusta, Macon, Columbus??? What's the difference?

Athens is not for me. It's just a typical college town, which was nice when I was 18 - 25 years old, but I am somewhat older now and prefer a different crowd and lifestyle. Visited Savannah several times and seen all the houses and squares, since I do not drink any alcoholic beverages nor party anymore, it's not for me either, besides there was this awful stench that would not go away. And I made the mistake of going there during the summer, and the gnats and other biting insects told me to leave, so I did. Been to Augusta and Macon more times than I care to remember, great strides have been made in both places, but the leadership of the cities are still struggling to find an identity. Anyhow, for a middle size town with a small town feel I'll take Columbus. If I choose to move again, I might consider Atlanta, but that will be a stretch, because my favorite place of all the places I have lived is still Denver, CO.
