Washington, Georgia
Can anyone give me information on Washington, Georgia? It looks like a pretty place to live with a nice town square (from what I've seen online)?
Thanks.

My husband and I just came back from a trip from that area we stayed at a hotel in Thomson and drove around to see the sites and ended up driving in washington area the countryside was real nice alot of rolling hills quiet little town we also noticed a golf course area and they also have a motorcross track my husband is in a club called Fl. Trail Riders and he had a race there he said it was a nice track. We looked at alot of the surrounding areas also. We will be buying property in Glasscock county which is a small town about 45min. from washington I am looking forward to the move. It seems like a great place to live.the people seem friendly.

We love Washington to death!! The largest group of antebellum homes in Georgia, significant events in all of American history..first town named for George, a significant Revolutionary War battle, the end of the Confederacy right off the Square..
visit often to city_movie2 and visit in person as soon as you can!

Drove through there a few times to get to nice golf courses in the area - mostly near Lake Thurmond (McCormick/Lincolnton). Its you typical small Georgia town. About 45 miles from Augusta.
From that Washington, Ga clip link above - I can tell you that that Director of Tourism is pretty hot! Check her out for yourself.

Hello,
Any one who says Washington is not very touristy has obviously not been to Washington. We have 3 museums, many restaurants, a few cafés, and there's always live music somewhere on the weekend. The people here are very friendly and open minded, and will welcome you heartily. It is also a great place to live in if you like riding your bike or walking, or if you're concerned about raising your children in a safe town where they can safely roam free. While the local government is clearly incompetent, it is not worse than anywhere else and there are at least no problems with corruption. It is a clean, pretty and, yes, touristy little town. There are also more antebellum homes here than in Madison, and you can get a lot of house for your money. I know a few kids from the different local schools, and they are all very well mannered and educated. As polite and knowledgeable as any in any big city, so the system can't be that bad. There's also a hospital here, so that's a plus as well.
You should do some more research and visit before you decide. There are several websites about Washington, such as washingtongeorgia dot net and washingtonwilkes dot org. When you come, make sure to stay at the magnificent Fitzpatrick Hotel on the square.
Good luck with your relocation.
