Stockbridge, Georgia - Is this a good place to live?
Now, I have read, maybe too many posts, but you guys have put the fear of God in me about moving to Georgia. But I am still going to ask: Is Stockbridge a good area for a single mother of two to live in terms of safety, schools and commute to Atlanta?

Move to stockbridge
I am also considering relocating to Stockbridge from NYC. There appears to be many new home builders in the area, and it is close to some of the major highways, but how are the schools?
My husband and I + two children are interested in the area where Red Oak Elementary, Dutchtown Middle/High would be the zoned schools.
Is this a nice , safe, diverse area to live and to have my children excel at school.
Please reply!

i don't know much about stockbridge, but i do take my daughter to dentistry for children there and they are AWESOME!! it is right off of interstate 75 which is a pretty easy commute to atlanta but for some reason it tends to be very congested at that particular exit. whether i'm going north or coming back south, i hit major traffic right at that area. i wish you the best of luck and wish i could help you more!!

No, Stockbridge is not good for schools and is rising in crime. It is also extremely heavy on traffic.

You can find some threads about Stockbridge by searching. You also would get more posts under the Atlanta section. Were I you with kids using public schools, I would look at near by Fayette County.

i would say no to stockbridge being good. the schools aren't too great. my sister moved because stockbridge highschool was horrible. i went to school in middleschool. and its not too diverse. 98% black. 1%white 1%other. at my school anyways.

Cherokee county is a great place. It is far enough from atlanta to get away from traffic, the schools are great and you still can get to the city in 30-40 minutes. Close to the mountains and the lake if you like that kind of stuff. Don't be scared about moving to georgia. Low cost of living and something for everyone, along with a job market that is still growing.
