Athens Rental
I did a search, and didn't find much, so here I am.
I currently live in Athens and have for several years. However, I've grown tired of always living next to either a) college students who are usually pretty good neighbors but have a tendency to party when I have to be at work early the next morning or b) criminals and crackheads. I thought I'd found the perfect location last time in Lantern Walk - alas I was wrong. I've got one neighbor who panhandles us for smokes and change (even after we told him we don't smoke), another who has yelled at us when he was high on something and had the cops at his door multiple times during the week, one who steals our newspapers, people knocking on my door late at night, and a friend of mine who lives in the neighborhood had someone knock on his door in their underwear. So, needless to say, its time to get out!
Anyone have good recommendations for someplace affordable and decent to rent? We've thought about the Boulevard area, but we really don't want a gas bill. Any other suggestions? Rental home would be preferred, but at this point we'll take anything thats quiet and peaceful.

I think I'm your neighbor! I live in Lantern's Walk too and have that same guy bug me for smokes! LOL!

I lived in Appleby Mews my last 2 years of college and I know there are quite a few units over there for rent. It is in a shady area, but I never had problems and it is close to everything!

I'm at 321 Samuel Clemens....he had the audacity to ring our doorbell yesterday to ask for a smoke. |

Do you want to be intown? If not take a look at the Madison county area, a lot less college students and about a 20 minute commute. Try the Main Street News if you are interested in something a little further out. Best wishes, that would drive me nuts!

You'll have to let me know  We've moved out to Watkinsville. We were at 321 and he was right next door. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one in this town who find the rentals here to be complete crap. I'm looking to buy soon out in Oconee county. Although I am young, I'm not much for beer or partying and the crime rate is a definite issue to me.
