Default Relocating from Az to Ga

Hello All,

I'm relocating from AZ to GA in June. I plan on doing a road trip at the end of May. My question is this, I'm a single mother of 2 ages 9 & 5. I was looking into the South Fulton, specifically East Point, College Park, Forest Park, Stone Mountain, Cobb County areas, but after reading some of the post here, I'm definitely scared. I've live in AZ most of my life and tried moving back to Tx but wasn't to thrilled about it, so I moved back to Az. Now I know I do not want to settle here in AZ and was looking at GA. The thing is I want to be somewhere where the town is small and everyone partically knows everyone and friendly. I don't want to be so far from the city that we can't enjoy outings, but I definitely don't want to be in the heart of ATL. My daughter is in dance and that was y i was looking into East Point for the dance theater Ballethic dance company. I'm looking for a diverse community with great schools and nice (older) homes with backyards. I'm not into these new community homes that only give you a strip of land for a backyard. . Also I definitely don't want to be in a high crime area. Something laid back and calm. I welcome any advice, comments, suggestions out there.

Thanks
D

Hi D,

I've lived all around Atlanta over the last 25 years and know most parts fairly well. I think Cobb County would be a great candidate for you and your family. Most of the schools are very good and it is healthy economically, ensuring a good investment if you are going to purchase a home. It depends on your budget how convenient/close it is to get into Atlanta. You may also want to consider the Stockbridge/McDonough area on the south side of Atlanta. This area would be more convenient to get to East Point for ballet and may offer the small town feel you are looking for.

My family and I lived in Cherokee county for a year and a half and it was really nice. Only like 45 minutes from the city and a really safe, nice area to raise children. We just relocated to FL and we miss it there. The housing market is great.
