Help Moving From Chicago To Georgia
I am a single mother of 3 (all girls) ages: 16, 11, and 3. I am looking 2 relocate 2 Georgia by the time the new school years starts in August 2009. A few things that I'm looking for:
Employment in: Human Resources or Customer Service (HR is the preference)
Safe neighborhood:
Good School District: of which I hear Gwinett County is good for both
Affordable housing: Looking for rent to own
Diversity and lots of it!
Recreational for the children without a lot of traveling on the weekend.
I will be looking forward to attending World Changers Church in College Park and would not like my commute to more than 1 hour.

NJ need help in ATL
I really need help. I am relocating ro the atlanta area in June from NJ. I am sooo confused I have been researching but all information is conflicting. I am looking to live in an area similiar to the one i live in now. I live in an all african american suburb which I like. I have a 14 yr old son who is going to high school and a 9yr dau. He loves the community we live in now and has no interest in moving to atl but we are. I am looking at the lithonia college park union city areas. They seem to model the town I live in the most. I will be working in mid town so I know commute is a prob. I also was wondering about the high schools I have not heard to many good things. I am divorced I am 29 yrs old so I don't want to be on the country I am a city/suburban chick. PLEASE HELP. Sports are also a big deal and education. Plus my dau does modeling so I want to be as close to the city as I can. Even if I live in atlanta itself. I just don't know which side. Also I am not buying now just renting. Thanks in advance.

I really considering Gwinnette County
While doing my research I have come to the conclusion that Gwinnette County seem to be a pretty pleasant place to live. I've decided to start visting the 3rd week in April to get a better idea as to which Town within the county.

Gwinnett County is the place to look. My husband and I moved back to GA from Chicago in 2001 and we love it. We have two boys and live in Lawrenceville (30043). The schools are great and the area is very diverse and safe. Check out houses in the above city and in Suwanee (30024), or Buford (30519). You'll be happy in any of these towns. You'll get a huge house and yard for the money and there are great deals out there now. If you need a great realtor to help you call Danthika Borst. She's with GMAC metro Brokers and is awesome. She really works hard for you. I wouldn't use anyone else to sell or to buy. Her number is 404-843-2500.
Hope this helps.

Where to live in Atlanta
I lived in Atlanta (downtown) for 4.5 years and in Gwinnett for 3. I loved both for totally different reasons.
First, for the mom looking for a mostly african-american community, South Atlanta, College Park and Riverdale (Clayton County) would fit those requirements. Riverdale is definitely more suburban, more low-key, but it's up-and-coming. Please be careful about neighborhoods. Any of these places would put you close enough to Atlanta to give you the fast-pace you're looking for. Also, driving north to work on 75/85 is better than driving south.
For those looking in Gwinnett County, you really can't pick a bad place. Try to stay away from the Stone Mountain area and Southeast Gwinnett, but I'd recommend Lawrenceville/ Buford/ Duluth. I lived in all three and Duluth is definitely the more affluent, but Peachtree Corners and Norcross are in demand as well (they're farther south). I worked in Norcross/ Peachtree Corners and they are building high-end homes and shopping like there's no tomorrow.
