Exactly so.
The old adage "wrong side of the tracks" certainly applies to a lot of small cities in this state. I know that in my mother's hometown of Brunswick, the best neighborhoods were right next to the poorest neighborhoods in town. I know from my grandparents' house they were only one block away. A lot of the wealthier citizens actually preferred it that way back in the day; crime was negligible, and the situation gave them easy access to their domestic help, who had a short walk to their employers' houses.
BTW, Galounger, I so enjoyed the tour of Moultrie's homes, which are indeed beautiful. You reminded me that Moultrie was the home of noted GA architect Frank McCall, whose work I have long admired. Some of the houses that you featured are indeed his, and you can see his family's business (Harper-McCall Insurance) in one of them as well.
