columbus georgia is the third largest city in georgia and it may become georgias 2nd largest city when brac moves here because it will bring more people to the columbus metro area bringing our poplation up to near 200,000 thousand people in our area here is the 2006 estimate for how many people live in the columbus area 188,660 people live in the columbus area columbus georgia was georgias second largest city in 1996 here is the 2006 estimate population for each georgia metro city in georgia this us census stuff sounds not right for the merto cities population so i dont no if its true or not but that is what it says here number 1. starting with the number one city and its the largest city in georgia with most people living in this city and we all no the city is atlanta its the largest city in georgia with about 486,411 people in the metro area in the year of 2006 but im pretty sure its grown a heck of alot more since then now number 2. heres the second largest city in georgia and thats augusta georgia the 2006 estimate population for augusta is 189,366 people now number 3 the third largest city in georgia is columbus georgia with the 2006 estimate 188,660 people now number 4 this is the fourth largest city in georgia and its savannah georgia with 127,889 people and the last one being georgias 5th largest city and that is macon georgia having 93,655 people

like i said i dont no if this information is right or not but it says it is i got this information from the 2006 u.s. census bureau but i think i no now why the population does not sound right in these cities its probably because the 2006 u.s. census bureau is probably only counting the population in each city by its self for an example like atlanta georgia there only counting the population in the city of atlanta only no other county near it is being counted with the city atlanta for an another example now if they would of have counted the county of gwinett in with atlanta it would of have brought atlantas population up to 1243,515 people because gwinett counties population is 757,104 so add atlantas population 486,411 in with gwinett counties population and it would of have brought it up to 1243,515 people and if they would of have counted in more counties in thats near atlanta it would of have brought there population up higher also for an another example like columbus georgia there only counting the population in columbus only no other city near it like phenix city is being counted in with columbus its only the city by itself is being counted another example is macon georgia there only counting the population of people in macon only no other county or city near macon like warner robins is being counted in with macon there only counting the people that live in macon only
