Today I visited Sandersville. It is no Macon... but pretty nice all the same ( ). It has a historic area... but without a water tower sign I am not sure what the historical significance is. My guess is that it has something to do with the Civil War... but that is but a guess. They mine Kaolin around here too... another guess, based on the names of their strip malls and such (Kaolin Plaza, Kaolin Hieghts, Kaolin Place, ect. [you get my drift]).
Here is the center of town. The courthouse. I have decieded to make a collage of all the courthouses I pass during my travels. This is my third. Nice building. 'Stately' seems to fit.
Here is the morning rush hour in Sandersville. Gotta love it, huh?
This is a street shot. Nice downtown area. No boarded up windows... a nice thing to see.
Looking for your ancestors? This place will help. (Geneology Research Center)

Thanks for the great pics, as usual.
Your "Courthouse Series" is a great idea.
Sandersville looks like a GREAT little town.
The flowers in your backyard are beautiful.
Things in the City are really starting to pop now. The beautiful redbud trees just starting blooming this week, and my forsythia is in fill bloom.
Think I'll go sit on the back porch and watch my ferns and hostas pop.
I fall in love with Georgia all over again every spring!

It is great news that spring is reaching you. I have noticed one negative thing though... so far the pollen is very thick this year. Even the dirt is green, never mind the windshield each and every morning.
I am hoping tomorrow will offer some photo opportunities. After I pick up my brand spanking new bass boat from the dealer we are off to Dublin for the St. Patrick's day celebration held there. Although it is much much more subdued than the Savannah celebration, I am anticipating some photo opportunities, including the parade and stuff. I got a feeling everything will be green... on purpose and by mother nature (pollen)!!
Go Irish... and bring the Kleenex!! (I just love Irish Car Bombs [the drink] by the way)

You know, I've been really clogged up and congested for about a week - it's probably the pollen. It never used to bother me until the last year or two.
Have fun in Dublin - it's probably a lot more laid back and low key than Savannah, but I'm sure it's still a lot of fun.
LOL at the Irish Car Bombs - that is my brother in laws absolute favorite. His co-workers lovingly call him "The terrorist" because of them!

OK... Dublin is no Savannah. But they do a great family oriented St. Patrick's day celebration. I recommend it to any in the area. Do not come to party... I stood out like a sore thumb. But come and enjoy a family style event where there is plenty to do. Here are some random shots.
with permission
I ate pizza out of this brick oven. Good stuff.
Yours truly after partyin' Dublin style (not a single Irish Car bomb though)
