Is there any coastal town in georgia or south carolina/north Carolina that has access to a good job market/bigger city?

Where do people get hired in these areas- what area is best?

I want to live 1 hr or less from the water and my job is in commercial building construction (hospitals, hotels, high rises, etc)

Savannah down to Brunswick is likely your best bet.

Larger metros in the 'Low Country' region:

Charleston
Savannah/Hilton Head
Jacksonville

Second tier communities:

Myrtle Beach
Beaufort
Brunswick

I would think that you could find ample employment opportunities in your profession. The SC coastal region in particular is blowing up. Savannah seems to be opening a new hotel every other week!

You will do well all the way from Savannah up to Myrtle Beach (which is reportedly the fastest growing metro in the US).

There’s a ton of commercial and multifamily residemtial construction in both Savannah and Charleston. There’s a new hospital under construction in Pooler in suburban Savannah. As Iconographer alluded, a new hotel seemingly opens in Savannah every week. There’s about 12 underway downtown right now — including the biggest hotel in Savannah history (JW Marriott at Plant Riverside).
