a couple questions on georgia (Atlanta, Savannah: to live in, bus, safest)

I have a few questions on traveling to georgia. I currently live in florida, west palm beach to be exact and i need to find the cheapest way to get there. I have tried searching the greyhound bus web site and couldnt seem to get all the information i needed. Would anyone mind helping me? Also the safest...a young blond traveling all that way alone isent quite the smartest thing to do.

How shall i get there?
What activities can be explored there?
Best area to live in?

You can take amtrak to Savannah (which is a must see place in Georgia)
you can also take amtrak to Atlanta, which you should definately check out. Since you are from Florida, I would highly suggest concentrationg on the north georgia mountains since it is so different from south Florida. I have taken the train to miami on several occassions and love the experience. Airtran usually has some good deals from South Florida to Atlanta. Good luck
