No matter what the ultimate outcome in the undecided GA races I hope all winning candidates realize that they need to actually serve their constituents, and for the most part, these constituencies are fluid.

Irrespective of the results today Georgia moved from solid red territory to purple and from now on Georgia will be in the swing state/toss up column for the presidential/Senate/USHouse/governor elections. Atlanta metro area is roughly adding 100000 new residents an year. Going forward 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2026 will be very competitive races with Georgia turning blue somewhere in between..

Mind explaining how, when the vast majority of Congressman elected last night were R's. Abrams lost to a nutjob gun lover.

For Governor, Kemp is at 50.4%, Abrams is at 48.6%, and the margin is right around the number of voters that got purged (63,000), so they are going to have to count the provisional ballots. Kemp is not declaring victory. This is going to drag out for a while. If after the votes are counted, no candidate receives 50% + 1 vote, the election goes to a December runoff.

GA-06, covering North Fulton and Cobb, has Lucy McBath ahead of Karen Handel by 3,000 votes, 50.5% to 49.5%.

GA-07 is split in the opposite direction, with incumbent Rob Woodall leading by 3,000 votes, 50.6% to Carolyn Bordeaux's 49.6%.

Anyone who didn't vote— this was the election your vote could make a difference. And those who did, you're going to have to wait to see how it went.

It is mathematically impossible for Abrams to win at this point even if all the remaining votes are for her.

I am disturbed that we only had 60% participation from registered voters in Georgia. There are so many ways to vote, I just don't understand why more folks didn't do it.

I'm also disturbed that someone in charge of elections was allowed to remain in his professional post while running for office. Shouldn't there be a law that requires the Secretary of State to step down from overseeing the elections and have it be handled by an outside third party?

She's not even trying to win outright at this point, but instead drag Kemp back below 50% for a December runoff (which is still possible).

That threshold isn't likely either.

Yep.

The Dems can turn GA purple if they run candidates like Lucy McBath. Let that sink in. An African American Democrat won the 6th district. She ran on issues not race.

The Republicans can answer by running better candidates though, and that's when we all win. Most people in GA prefer a centrist.

Is McBath confirmed as winner? (I hope so.) Right now (9:25 am) the AJC doesn't show a winner in that race.
