They don't like vinyl windows here either. Makes no sense to me. Maybe it is the humidity?

A stucco home is OK as long as it is real stucco and not synthetic (called EIFS), which gave people a lot of problems in the 90's.

When it comes time to sell, you will not get any of the corporate relocation buyers. They are told and even encouraged not to consider any stucco homes. Even if it is not synthetic.

I would also personally stay away from a stucco home because to me they kind of look dated. I would suggest brick or brick and Hardi-Plank. In Atlanta, I would also not recommend vinyl siding, as that tends to indicate a less desirable subdivision.

Synthetic stucco will "rust". You ever see those older stucco homes that look like the outside walls have run rivulets of rust?

True stucco should be fine, it's commonly used in some places in New Orleans which is much more humid than Atlanta.
Vinyl siding on the other hand sucks.

I think people avoid even real stucco because they have heard so much bad stuff about the fake stuff and can't tell the difference. So it's harder to resell, which is reason alone to avoid it.

Vinyl siding is better than any stucco, any day of the week, as far as maintenance and resale value.
I have a 3100 sq ft vinyl sided house. Not undesirable by any means!

And stucco is ugly and you are stuck with the color unless you want to shell out money to paint it. Would be much cheaper in the long run just to cover stucco with vinyl siding.
