Waycross 3rd graders plan to kill teacher (??)
Ok, admittedly I've never been to Waycross, but can someone from that area tell me what the heck they're teaching kids in the public schools there (or at home) in order for them to come up with THIS: 3rd-Graders Allegedly Plotted To Kill Teacher - News Story - WSB Atlanta (??)

Wow, that is seriously sad. I just don't understand some kids today- it makes you really wonder what is happening in their lives that would make this seem ok.

As I said in another post yesterday, I am so very glad I don't teach. I wish I had saved the clipping from the Marietta Daily Journal last week that stated "teaching is now a dangerous profession". Waycross is a small town in southeast Georgia. This is indeed sad news.

I just read that story too. Gosh where are the kids getting this stuff from? Oh yeah music, video games , siblings, TV, let's make sure we keep prayer out of the schools too. I just can't believe 8 and 9 year olds would do this kind of planned stuff. Scarey.

This is just un-freakin-believable!!!!!! I was born in waycross and only lived there until I was 2, but we used to go visit quite a bit growing up. It has been a while, but it used to be a sleepy little small town where the kids could still go trick-or-treating and play outside until the streetlights came on!
This seriously disturbs me and makes me sick to my stomach!

Wow, that is truly sad. I have a 2nd and 4th grader. I can't imagine them plotting to hurt their teachers. I felt sick when I read that one was supposed to clean up the blood. How awful! What is this world coming to?

I found out today a coworker of mine knows someone who works in law enforcement down that way. He told her that Waycross has a huge and very serious and extensive Meth problem in the area. She's going to try to call him to get his take on this story in particular, but she said they once talked about it and he said people would be shocked to see how Meth has destroyed certain aspects of that town - and a lot of kids are growing up in "meth homes", too. No doubt this could be a case of that.
Looks like they're not exactly trick-or-treating down there anymore. They're duct taping and killing teachers. Way to go meth parents! yeeow.

Please keep us informed when you talk to your friend. I am still in a state of almost disbelief on this. Don't know whether to be angry or just sad and sick in the pit of my stomach. Wonder if this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg - not just in that area - but nationwide. I mean, this happened in Waycross GA for pete's sake.

You can call me an idealist or whatever comes to mind but something like this reinforces the reason that I AM going into teaching. I don't plan on changing the world but one person can make a difference and I sure as heck am going to try to do just that. Especially when kids are coming from a "meth home" or something of that nature, they need someone to go to bat for them.
