If I got to choose, I would pick Augusta or Savannah.
My cousins mother-in-law just recently moved up here from Warner Robbins, Georgia (south of Macon). She loved it there, but moved here to be closer to her family living here in extreme northeast Tennessee.

Oh my God... are you kidding? Disgusta or Savannah?? Wheww that's a tough choice! No way.. definately Savannah! Savannah is not without its problems, notably crime (but the crime is pretty much contained in specific areas.. Crime is just as high in Augusta (maybe worse).. and it's more spread out. But Savannah just has much more character than Augusta could ever hope to have. It is a beautiful city..which is a big reason why it attracts so many tourists. Savannah is pricier.. but that's because people want to live there. Augusta is much cheaper by comparison... but there is a reason for that.. because it's not a very desirable place to live...unless you find shopping at Wal-mart and eating at Cracker Barrel to be entertainment. In Savannah.. you are just a short drive to Hilton Head.. and Tybee Island has become a nice beach resort community of its own in recent years (it wasn't always so)..

Dunwoody and Acworth/Woodstock area are great!!!
Well I am from NY and I have lived in Atlanta for 12 years. Currently I live in dunwoody and I love it. I have lived in dunwoody for several years and people dont get robbed or murdered. if there is a storm a tree might fall on your house but that about it. I rent an apartment here, 2 bd/2ba for 683 a month ( We got a special.. its usually 990 a month ). The homes are definetly more pricey, beautiful, but expensive. You can find some pretty good deals if you take the time to look. The school distrct is one of the best in the county. I went to Chamblee High which is down the street and it was a great school. Im sure that Dunwoody High is just as good. Its a pretty diverse place to live. If you want to buy a house though and you dont mind country folk, I lived in Acworth for a year and loved it. the ppl are very friendly. however, my husband is white, i am black and we have a daughter so the stares are a price to pay, but if you are anything like me, you wont let ignorant people stop you from having a good day.

I have been looking at information for Woodstock and Canton GA .. I am thinking of relocating. I have a 6 yr old child. My issue is how well do these location deal with diversity as (per the info on the web) it is mostly caucasion populated. I am non white

I can honestly say you would love the Woodstock area. Check out the Towne Lake area- Eagle Watch, Wyngate, Towne Lake Hills. All are very family friendly and the school your son would attend is Bascomb. Bascomb is an excellent school!!
It's a growing area with close proximity to both Atlanta and the Mountains. We can't say enough good things about this area.
Coming from a diverse area myself, (Washington DC) I can say that although the majority to minority is quite significant, the people that I have met are diverse in thought, culture, and well rounded enough to be accepting of all cultures. Not even a thought to racial differences amongst all of us!
So good luck in your search, wherever it may land you!!

looking for suggestion on places to live in GA
My husband and I have lived in NY all of our lives but now we are ready for a change. We were thinking about relocating to GA but aren't sure on where to go, I would really appreciate some suggestions. We both are in the medical field so being near a hospital is important (don't want a long commute ). We have a 1yr old and plan of having more kids later on so we need an area that has good schools and houses priced in the 100-200's zone. we were thinking about Suwanee. please give us you input.

Sounds just the same if you substitute the word "Albany" for "Augusta"!

Well, if price is no object, I'd elect St Simons Island...it has a great quality of life.
