If we could afford Sterling on the Lake, or even Hamilton Mill, those would have been my first and second choices, but our desire to have a basement, and the $$ left over to have the basement finished was a deciding factor in where we ultimately bought our home. Georgian Acres is the name of the development. It's very pretty, and has lots of trees. Gorgeous view from our back deck, feels like we're in the mountains, but yet we're just 20 minutes from the Mall of GA (10 minutes from interstate) and all the wonderful shopping surrounding it.
Can't wait to move!!!!

Bulloch Co - Statesboro has a good school system and has quite a few housing developments being built. Brooklet is a small growing town 5 min. away.
Insurance & taxes are low, you couldn't ask for better neighbors! You'll need a degree to work here, or have to drive 45 min. to Savannah though. Crime is LOW. (Not so in Savannah!)
Come and shop, eat, visit the art museum, cool off at "Splash in the Boro" - I live 20 min. from Statesboro - quiet country living is my choice, but I love the 'Boro.

I agree with Brentbotes,- Cherokee county is beautiful. Being from Virginia, it reminds me a lot of that area. Alot of rolling hills and very green. I would recommend the Towne Lake area of Woodstock. Great family area with many different price ranges to choose from. It's also close to Atlanta(about 28miles) yet far enough where you don't have too much traffic/crime/smog. We are also close to the mountains (under 1 hour).

another miami resident wanting to move to Ga
Hi everyone! I'm a native miamian ready to get out. I have a 3 year old son and do not want him to grow up here. We are actually building a beautiful home in Pinecrest,Fl. I think one of the best cities to raise a family in south florida. But can't afford $13,000 property taxes! It's just insane here. I won't get into the rude and unkind nature of living in south florida. We're thinking of Georgia. I see alot of suggestions for cities near Atlanta. Any recommedations for great cities in Southern Georgia with good schools?????????

I think north metro Atlanta is your best bet.... 2nd would be Athens.. As for the other 2nd tier cities Columbus is probably the best. Augusta and Macon are about as equally disgusting... but atleast Macon is much closer to Atlanta's shopping and cultural destinations and its airport.

Simpson is in Peachtree Corners - affluent and pretty expensive. Suwanee and Level Creek are in Suwanee - houses run from about 230000 to over 1 million. Parsons is in Duluth - more variety in housing prices, although I think it's near the Sugarloaf Country Club area which is pretty expensive. Buice, I have no idea.
