LOL Yep, I typed it backwards!! I had to ask my Mother what his name was, and instead typed in Mr. Jerry's name! Thanks for the correction!

And your point is?? Who cares if Marty Jannetty is from Albany. My question is, what does that have to do with you?

<<<I will add to the positive of Albany...despite all the other corrosive factors...it is home...God bless for all its flaws...Mind you...I dont want to move back there...but my childhood memories are all there and most of them are fairly decent and my upbringing and the kind of person I have become is a positive thing. I liked that everyone went to church...didnt matter what church you went to (unless you were Baptist...haha), but it was like the church was part of who you are. Oh Lord and the revivials, there were many. I liked riding my banana seat bicycle all over the place, picking blackberries by the railroad track and picking muscadine grapes off someone's fence in the alley, fishing with cane pole and going to the moose lodge or elks lodge pool with my grandparents. Untainted by TV and all the other crap the kids have for distraction these days, those simplistic things have more value to me now. I want my kids to have memories like that now. I would have say...it would be positive. I hope I can be back soon to embrace those simpler times.>>>

Just a snapshot of down home dixie, could be anywhere you are, in Carolina..or in Georgia~

runnergrl- I swear I heard that song in the back of my mind while reading this post.

Katsmeeyow- I can definitely tell you're excited/elated about moving from the Albany area, and have a feeling you were laughing about hysterically when you started this thread!

FlourChild- the "off like prom dresses" had me about falling out of my chair... good one!

Hee. Thanks, Jeff.

Seriously, y'all: It makes me glad that somebody has fond memories of Albany, and that not everyone feels as I do. As long as nobody tries to imply that I have not, in fact, experienced what I most definitely HAVE EXPERIENCED, we're good. I'm glad that someone finds some kind of redeeming feature here, so I can keep those things in mind, just in case we have trouble getting the @#$% OUT as quickly as we would like. (As in, fast enough to leave Bugs-Bunnyesque cartoon shapes in the wall.)

you know another neat thing about Albany is the Chehaw park with the animals. I remember when they had the animals in cages somewhere in the city...kinda depressing.

Every time we've been to Chehaw, the animals are sort of hiding and moping around. Maybe it was the heat.
