A few yrs from retirement and although I love living near Savannah,
I am considering moving somewhere south of Metro Atlanta, since most of my family, relatives in ATL.
I am looking for somewhere that fits my ideal living community:

I am an outdoorsman and do not want to live around congestion. I detest metro congestion and crowded communitites and roads.
I like living in quiet, friendly community that has the friendliness I experience down like here in Bryan County. Places where people are neighborly and helpful to one another.
Low or essentially no crime or drug problems in the community.
Conservative lifestyle where hunting, fishing are common past times and johnboats and four wheelers are household items.
Where people are country but educated but open-minded enough to live and let live.
Good/easy access to good hospitals and medical services.
Plenty of nearby places to fish, hunt, camp or get out into the woods or on a creek/river or pond.
I want to live in Mayberry.

There is no Mayberry.

But you might check out Griffin.

Forsyth or Jackson (the towns, not the counties) may be options.

Its not exactly between Macon and Atlanta , actually its not far enough away from Atlanta, but Baxley fits your requirements.

Ever considered the north Georgia mountain towns? Blue Ridge would fit your desires very nicely.

I love the North Georgia mountains; they are my favorite part of Georgia but farther than I'd want to be from family who live on the southern side of Atlanta.

Lake Spivey and Jodeco are very close to family but I'm not wanting to be in the Metro Atlanta congestion.
