Possible relocation to Lavonia, GA?
I am married with 4 children and am faced with a possible relocation for a new job which is in the Lavonia, GA area. We currently reside in a small town around 12k people and a resonably low cost of living.
Things my wife and I are interested in.
1. Best place to live in that area for a family with 4 young children. 2 of the are school age.
2. Obviously we want to avoid high crime areas
3. We wish to make sure the children have a good school system.
I dont really want to communte more the 30 minutes or so.
Any help would be great, all the census data I get is old data.
Thank you.

Do you what sort of job prospects are available in this area?
IIRC, Lavonia is located between Toccoa and Hartwell. This is a very scenic area and I would think there would be little crime but have no idea about the quality of the school system.
Commerce, GA is about 1/2 hour south of Lavonia and might be a place to find employment.

I am currently in the interview process and will be visiting soon. I am confident that I could get this position. It is there "where to live" thing my wife is worried.

Good luck.
I just visited the area and don't really know what it is like to live there.
From Toccoa it seemed to take about 45 minutes to reach Lavonia. I recall a lot of pastures/cows.
I suspect some people commute from this area to Gainesville/Duluth as the towns seemed so small.
You could search craig's list or Google for housing in the Lavonia/Toccoa/Hartwell area.
