You anti-Columbus guys will be eating those words in 5 years.....I promise you. Let the professionals make the judgement calls on what growth Columbus will see. Who should we believe, professional economists and military leaders or a random anti-Columbus trolls on the website. Case closed.

I dont think that's realistic. Augusta and Savannah are noticeably more urban and "fast" than Macon and Columbus.

Columbus even appears to be more "country" than Macon riding around town. It doesnt look as dense as Macon when riding along the main roads/highways in both cities.

In order for Columbus to be the "next" major city in GA...it would have improve its "city feel" a TON.

Perhaps with all the said growth that is supposed to happen...maybe Columbus will start to look and feel more like its population which i hope for and would be great, but right now it looks more sleepy than the other cities.

Columbus looks about as fast as Albany or Warner Robins when driving around town.

But like I said Savannah and Augusta are already many steps ahead of Columbus and Macon....and I dont seen any catching up to them any time soon.

Augusta's metro is too large and Savannah's dense inner city and amenities just cant be touched by Columbus and Macon right now.

Great post!
I think the poll speaks for itself.
Columbus poverty/crime/low wages are the only major things they have been known for.
Columbus will never rid themselves of the stigma that they created many years ago.
Talk to out of towners and mention Columbus and you will immediately see their faces drop.

Looking at the poll seems the same people , who all are anti-Columbus voted for all the other cities but Columbus So much for fair if you have the same people voting more than once to boost the other cities results.

man people get too extreme on here, in every direction. I agree some posters are rather harsh on Columbus but look at the poll.

Augusta has 51 votes
Savannah has 55
and Columbus has 18

the addiction/substraction of "anti-Columbus" still wouldnt change how the majority feel regardless..
you're talking about a difference of 30+ votes....its not that many anti Columbus people on here....so do not act like if it wasnt for "anti columbus" the results would be about the same.

Yea great detective work but all it means is that everyone voted for who they wanted and you obviously do not like the results...sore loser.

How about None of the Above? There will be no other MAJOR CITY in Georgia other than Atlanta. That doesn't take anything away from Savannah, Augusta, Macon or Columbus (which are really not all that much different from each other in size anyway).. but when it comes to MAJOR metropolitan areas.. Atlanta is IT and will be IT. I have seen nothing to suggest anything different. When one of these second tier metro areas tops over 1 million then we can talk. None of them are anywhere close to that point.. no where near it.

I agree....they would have lost either way.
Columbus is generally at the bottom of nearly ALL polls.

what's all this nonsense about "look" and "feel", and how "fast" a city "feels".

that's not what you call "credible" information.
