Waycross, GA?!?
What are the best areas to live around Waycross for a family with three small boys (6,6, and 2)? I would also like to stay closer to the Jacksonville, FL side.

Hi VTSluggo,
There are some really nice areas in Waycross and around Waycross. We live in the outskirts in the Brantley County area. It's quiet here. Schools are Brantley County. Schools are great,,,not the trouble of Waycross.. Just 30 minutes from the Fla line. Lots of Real-estate deals here. Johns Realty in Nahunta Ga has a lot of nice priperties. They have a website. LEAVENWORTH PROPERTIES. Waycross newspaper is the Waycross Journal Hearld News. Hope this helps.

I'm originally from Waycross. I love it because will still have family there. The climate is excellent. The schools were much better prior to the city/county merger back in 1994. Housing and taxes are relatively inexpensive. You can get to Jacksonville, Fernandina Beach, Jekyll Island or a host of other places in ~1 hour. If you're looking for specific areas to live in, I would recommend the Okefenokee Country Club or the Hacklebarney area. It's on the edge of Waycross but you get to send the kids to the Pierce County school system. If you want to be 15 minutes closer to Jacksonville, you could go out Central Avenue towards Brantley County. The property taxes are higher but the homes are nicer.
Good Luck with the move,
Michael

just a heads up, the willacoochee website is loaded with grammatical areas. For me, that doesn't give me any more incentive to live there

oh boy! I just caught that!! pretty embarrassing. However, you can bet that if I was creating the chamber of commerce website for my town I would be positive that it was gramatically correct.
