Cobb County, specifically East Cobb, has several of the top ranked high schools in the state.
Fayette county schools also consistently receive high scores.
There is a 'Schools' thread at the top of the Atlanta forum that may be a good resource for you.
There are many excellent schools within the 5-8 counties/cities that comprise metro Atlanta.
It is best to live as close to your place of employment as possible --ie traffic and gas prices.

Columbus High School, in Columbus of course, is consistently ranked #1 or #2 for public schools in the state. Just last week every student in the Junior class, some 300 of them, passed the Georgia High School Graduation Test. Columbus has also been ranked nationally as one of the best cities to raise a family.

Suwanee, GA was ranked as one of the top ten places to live in the country. I live there and I love it. It is a suburb of Atlanta, so you get the big city amenities close by without having to live in the city.

Hmmmmmm
I have a lot of experience in Texas and Georgia primarily with San Antonio and Athens here in GA.
You did not give any parameters on what you need or want in a place.
If money is no object, work is no problem, then there are all sorts of nice places in both states.
I am willing to respond again in more detail if you provide more information.
Good luck to you.

We really have enjoyed living in Gainesville GA. We were originally from Miami FL and found it to be extremely lovely with lakes and mountains and close to a big city.

After scanning this article I couldn't identify the criteria that were used to prepare this list.
DeKalb School of the Arts is located in my area and I applaud the efforts made to provide students with creative interests/abilities a stimulating learning environment, yet I know this school is not 'Outstanding'. The same could be true for other schools on this list?
