John,
Checked that area out thoroughly. Everything you need, great schools, but a traffic nightmare. Where the base is there are some backroads you can take to get there from the outskirts. Both St. Mary's and Kingsland are great areas, but take a look at Rt. 17 area around woodbine on realtor.com. The land prices are incredibly cheap, and Woodbine is a great small town. Sooner or later they will have to build a new high school in the Northern part of the county....it's just way to crowded down in St. Mary's/Kingsland, and they have some huge developments planned just North of there. There is a place in Woddbine called Satilla River Landings, new development in rural area right next to town on the river. Check that out, good luck.

It is my home, so I am a little partial. Beach is 15 min. Jax Airport 20. Jacksonville 45. Brunswick/St. Simons (SSI) to the north is about 40.

Crime is relatively low as far as violent crime. There is a lot of drugs--not hardcore stuff as much as just recreational pot. Located on 95, we are the first stop after you leave Florida , so the drug interdiction team is always out nabbing bad guys.

employment opportunites are slim if you are a big coporate type. there are always new businesses popping up from local store owners. as mentioned before, bigger cities are not far, so its very convient!

LOTS AND LOTS of elementary schools! i believe there are close to 16! 2 middle schools (one just renolvated last year) and one award winning HS. There was just an article in the local paper about camden HS being top in GA on graduating. Parents from brunswick often bus their child to Camden b/c the Glynn Co. School System is sooooo bad.

Its a football county so aroudn football season, everything gets little crazy! if you've never experienced small town love before, you'll get it here. Blend in as well as you can!
