It's okay to have an opinion about the different cities as long as the discussion remains mature and sane. But don't let you have an opinion that differs from Disgustasucks or MayorofMacon and they will start with the namecalling and the bashing of other posters here.

I think Bryant501 has a good point on the Bigger vs. Better. Athens is a really cool town. I certainly want Augusta to improve because I have a vested interest in it. I don't think it's a zero sum game at all. The Augusta commission went to Columbus to see what they could improve on. That's why we're looking at Greenville in the first place, they succeeded. How can we get there too?
Bryant's point is that Greenville while being a great place shouldn't be the model for a town not able to support it. Athens, Ashville or other towns might be better emulated as they would have similar population figures and physical features. It's not like we're competeing for state funds. That's not how Greenville got so nice anyway. |

MSA populations give you the true picture of a city's population. Most cities populations exapnd beyond their city limits which is why MSA populations are generally included because they give you a better indication of what's going on in the city. That's why when people give you the population of Atlanta, they tell you over 4 million. No 4 million people don't actually live in the city limits. Atlanta is considered one of the largest cities in the country. Yet if you went by city limits, it wouldn't be.
That's why Greenville is considered larger than the second tier Georgia metros. |

Macon's metro is not 400,000 either.
