Hey,
I am going to be moving to Brunswick hopefully pretty soon with my brother. I am 20 years old and have a horse. I was wondering what i could expect in that town, i know its on the smaller side and hot but other than that im a newbie. Does anyone know of any boarding stables in the area? Also any local community colleges?? Thanks, Allaina |

Brunswick is actually a nice little town, with some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. It's not your average small town in GA; it's growing quickly, has a lot of transplants at this point, and is only a few miles away from two of the only three accessible beaches in the state.
The economy is pretty strong due to an active port, several industries and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center north of town. There are some dicey neighborhoods close to downtown (the Union St area and Windsor Park are exceptions) but further out you'll find plenty of good neighborhoods. There's plenty of recreation to be had, and a surprising amount of culture for a town its' size. I've spent my whole life visiting Brunswick (having most of my family there). I wouldn't hesitate to live there. There are several boarding stables in the area, and the local college is GCCC (GA Coastal Community College). |

I'm curious lovindecator, is the coast and inlets good for boaters, fishers etc. I have heard that the tide is significant and can limit your water activities. Is this your understanding?

Yes, it is, as evidenced by the shrimping industry there. There are three marinas in the area that I know of: one in the city of Brunswick, one at the causeway entrance to St Simons, and one at Hampton Point (north end of SSI).
The tide can be strong, but the only thing I've only been cautioned about is swimming near the inlets where the tidal pull can really be felt. |
