Down Home Days in Chickamauga (Montgomery: sale, houses, school)

I understand this town festival will be this weekend, May 3rd. We are coming back down this weekend to look at more houses. Any info on this festival? We are thrilled this is taking place while we will be there. I hope it will give us a great opportunity to meet some folks (and eat some good food). Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I'm going! Big suprise right? For sure by 1:30 so I won't miss the parade @ 2 and the pumper pull @ 4. We have gone before and loved it. Sometimes the local school has a sale in the green house so I try to support them and pick up some goodies. It's alot of fun. The parade will consist of the usual funny cars, hot rods and quite a few young people just driving their own cars and 4 wheelers lol The street food is good. Lots of vendors. Be sure to pick up some peanuts too! My friend from work is selling them as part of the Chickamauga Hillbilly's fundraising (kinda like Shriners).

I know I am a little late on this post but I just found this forum...born and raised in Chickamuaga...Down Home Days is always the first Saturday in May...and a little warning...it seems to rain every year so you might want to bring an umbrella...started out as a small one day event that ended with a square dance...now it runs from Thur. night to Sat night and ends with a concert...have had Montgomery Gentry and Charlie Daniels...food, crafts, games, music, parade...no admission charge...
