small towns in southern georgia
My husband and i want to relocate from Mi. to Ga. We would like some info on smaller towns. We have 5 children, so schools are important. My husband would like to return to law enforcement or security work as far as job goes. Any advice good or bad would be welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am from Brantley County GA. Our school system has passed the CRCT two years in a row when surrounding counties have failed. We invite you to check us out. We are located 30 mins north of the FL/GA line. 35 mins west of Brunswick, GA. If you are looking for small town type, we are it!

You might want to look at Effingham County. If you look at Chatham County, pay attention to what schools your children will go to. In Chatham county, the public schools are generally bad with a few good ones here and there.

Effingaham
We checked Effingham up and down. Best schools in that area, lot of small town charm(Check out Guyton). It's not too close to Savannah, but not to far to commute. They really think ahead for growth in that county. They just built another high school not because they need one now, but because they will need one in the short term FUTURE. Wow, an intelligent concept. No pods outside to expand. The problem is we found, while the housing(evne new constuction) looks illegally cheap from someone uo North, it all gets into perspective when you start getting pais the low wages in the area. If you made in the mid 40's, you'd be golden.....most everything is in the 20's, low 30's at best. All of a sudden that $125,000 house looks kinda expensive, assuming if you have to do a 100% finanance, or even 5% down.

My husband is originally from Brantley County but did move to Homer, MI when he was 11 and stayed till he graduated high school, then went to the Army. His family moved back to Brantley around 1990.

There are the small communities in Laurens county like Dudley, Dexter , Rentz , & Cadwell. These small communities are really growing. Please check out Laurens County. We would love to have you here.
