West Roswell isn't very diverse, racially, compared to many other parts of metro Atlanta, and it is that which makes the place desirable.
The data is out there which shows that low crime and high-performing schools are associated with white areas. Check out "The Color of Crime" for crime stats. Check out information on the Bell Curve and race, as it relates to IQ.
There's also the idea of community, and being able to live in an area where people look like yourself. Furthermore, Roswell has been majority white since its founding. Shouldn't it stay so?

I lived in Lee County , ga many years ago. I was actually there in 7 8 and 9th grade and attended Lee County High school. Although I was young..I really did love it but have heard reports that is becoming very racist and not a safe place to be. I was very sad because I loved Lee county, but you know how rumours are. All in all though, Atlanta or Georgia I feel is a nicer place to live than Miami right now. I moved to Miami and have lived there for many years. Drugs are everywhere..even in Georgia so I dont know what the answer is as to where to go.
I am a single mom and would like to find a good place to raise my six year old. I guess the key really is, no matter where you go, it's not going to be perfect. You just have to be a very involved parent and really alert to what's going on in your childs life. I am that way but you know, it'd be nice to know that you dont have to worry about so many potential problems for your child.

My family is relocating to GA. My Husband will commute once a week to Atlanta and will work and live close to white area.. I have looked up schools and Kennesaw was rated great. I have a middle schooler who only has one yr left till high school. What I hate where we have lived the last 4yrs is the people.. They seem like they say hi but with their arms stretched--dont get too close.. RUDE and not very social, we have been miserable.. I want a neighborhood and community that accepts people get transferred all the time we are not invading their communtiy with outsiders.... We are a very social family, love bbq's(husband is an excellent cook). Being outside socializing.. being involved. This is our last move per the company so it has to be the best..Please... any help out there...

I don't buy this for a minute. True Southerners are some of the friendliest, nicest folks you'd ever be blessed to meet.

There are no best or worst places, pick anyplace in Georgia, and I assure you, that you will find some good out of it. So when you all say worst or best, think outside of Georgia.

The Worst - Crisp County
Cordele, GA. We are from Minnesota/Wisconsin and moved to Florida first. After 2 1/2 years, we had it with congestion, crime, high cost of living (real estate taxes/homeowners insurance/food, and car accidents due to poor infrastructure not to mention storms. We thought we struck it rich when moving to Lake Blackshear Plantation. Beautiful new home, on the golf course w/free golf for life, and beauty abounding. WRONG. Crime is high, proverty is extremely high (social services don't exist). Racism is outrageous (use of the "n" word), and the civil war is still being fought. The Southern hospitality with "yes ma'm, yes sir, miss, and mr is charming at first. Then you learn you are a Yankee and often referred to as such. Don't expect to come here and have an intellectual conversation about anything. People are born here, stay here, die here and live on after death. No room for Yankees. Very difficult "breaking in" and good professional services (lawyers, doctors, et. al.) are difficult to find. Both my husband and I were given improper medications resulting in damage/surgeries. Georgia law is NOT consumer friendly. Forget about protection under Property Owners Association laws (developers don't have to honor it). Forget about warranties on homes (optional). Don't ever buy from a "local" developer. Many don't have experience and try to find a lawyer to help you out. They are all locals. Don't move here if your faith is not Christian. Don't move here if you are an intelligent female. Don't move here if you want good shopping (we have one grocery store . . . a run down Walmart). Golf is cheap. Yes! (thought I should end on a positive note).

No one has mentioned Gainesville on either a best or worst list. Does it suffer from terminal middle-of-the roadness?
Can anyone who has either lived there or visited extensively give me some insight? Interested in the usual aspects....housing, education, things to do, entertainment, diversity, etc. Since this is a chicken processing area is this one of the "stinky" towns when the wind blows?

Well Hall County is one of the fastest growing counties in Georgia. It's a relatively short drive to Atlanta.. close to the mountains.. right on Lake Lanier (if it's still around).. I would definatley put Gainesville on the better end.. It's definately not an Augusta.. but then I don't know if I would put in in the top 5.. maybe top 10 though.

wow you guys(and gals) have ran this thread for months....is that a new record? lol
Anyhow, I want the boards opinion as I am revisiting moving back to GA. prefferably not too far (20 minutes ideal 30 max 40 min I will think about it)from the city of atlanta if possible. I was wondering what part of georgia has the most outdoor activities for people. I want to live near a park where there's a trail for briskwalking, biking, jogging, even a basketball court (perhaps), and such nearby. Preferably a park that isn't ever busy but, has all the amenties. A low key, low/no crime neighborhood. Any one have any citys that fit the bill? Hopefully a non expensive area.
FYI: I probably will still join a gym but the outdoor recreation is just an insurance policy.
P.S. I tried to read all the thread, but, it was just too overwhelming as my eyes started to blur.

5 best and worst places to live in GA?
Sorry, but I disagree...
I live in Marietta, in East Cobb, and love it. Good schools, nice homes, plenty of coffee and bagel shops, little to no crime, and nice people.
