It doesn't matter augusta is still the safest. And macon is 4th in violent crime. and 5th in property crime. Which means it is the most dangerous city of them all. No wonder why macon only has 95,000 people in the city limits. It obviously has a negative image, and people are afraid to live there

What is so hard for you to understand

Violent Crime

1. Augusta 392.3 (less likely to be shot, rape, or robbed)

2. Columbus 422.1

3. Atlanta 492

4. Macon 501.6

5. Savannah 582.9

Property Crimes

1. Atlanta 4115.2 (less likely to have property crime)

2. Augusta 4518.5

3. Savannah 4737.7

4. Columbus 5468.6

5. Macon 6180.7 (the most likely to have property crime)

Table 6 - Crime in the United States 2005

Are you happy now.
Don't worry about that guy he has no life and likes trolling this board for people who know how bad Georgia really is.

Save Yourself are you reffering to disgusta or mayor of macon. I don't have a problem with the mayor like you must do. I just think he likes macon thats it. And macon is not as bad as some people try to make it. When i visit macon i see alot of construction going on at interstate 75

Thumbs down Long posts and adding to it

I lived in Atlanta for over 30 years and mostly enjoyed my life there. Yes it's a big area and yes traffic sucks very much, no more than most big cities. I'm living in Va now because family is here, but I'm struggling to keep up as expenses are very high and I'm ready for a change.
Atlanta is in the past, don't want to live there any longer, I'm more into a smaller town, and least expensive cost of living, and don't want to be any where near Atlanta. I'm looking at southern georgia, and want to be in a college town, and so I've been looking at Statesboro. Any one want to jump in on Statesboro and give me any info?

With my past knowledge of places in GA, I agree with the worsts being Clayton County, Macon, Savannah, Riverdale, and most southside parts of Atlanta. It's a shame Savannah gets such bad marks as it's a nice place to visit only.

Statesboro isn't too bad from what I know. Medium sized college town...know someone out that way who likes it.

IMO, just don't ever move to Hinesville or Jesup.

What about Valdosta? It's a college town. I grew up in Moultrie and we used to go to Valdosta for shopping and good eating. I love Lowndes County. I live North of Atlanta now and my husband and I are trying to find land to move back to South Ga.

I have been to valdosta recently and it was okay for a small town. Brunswick is really turning into a nice small town also.

I don't buy this for a minute. True Southerners are some of the friendliest, nicest folks you'd ever be blessed to meet.
I agree! Georgia peaches! Why do people generalize so? -- it's all about the individual.
