For anybody who has spent time in Augusta, Columbus and Savannah, WHO in their right mind would consider Columbus Georgia's second city ahead of Savannah and Augusta? It lacks the Urbanity and Culture of those two cities, and of Macon as well. Columbus seems like a big suburb.
Savannah is Georgia's second city regardless.

Not a whole lot of difference between Albany and Disgusta... except that Disgusta is bigger... but not in a good way.

I think the tunamint starts next week.. not sure.. as I am not really a big golf fan.. but it has always amazed me that a city like Augusta.. which annually hosts one of the most prestigous sporting events in the world, has allowed itself to go to pot like it has. Take Washington Road for example, right outside the course, "tacky" doesn't begin to describe the scene.. a hodgepodge of decrepit strip malls, section 8 apartments, fast food joints, and seedy motels. There are no sidewalks.. masters patrons practically have to walk in the street to get to the course. It bewilders me as to why more planning and foresight did not go into that area.. it should be beautiful entry way to the course and into downtown.. but instead it is a tawdry example of sprawl run amok.

At least Augusta is pretty big and is known for something. If Georgia would rather present Columbus as its second city over Augusta and Savannah, then it'll just appear to be more of a hick state than it already is. Who the heck knows about Columbus? Silly Georgians.
