Albany...do not even consider that place...high crime, snobs (esp white women) (I am a white woman btw and I am also conservative too)who live in the nice areas, will not talk to you unless your husband is a Dr or if your not as rich as they are. Crime is horrible, I can only image what its like today!

Anyone have any info on Kennesaw, we are considering on a move there next year, it is right outside of Marietta and close to Cartersville, thanks for any help!

No matter where you live, you will find pluses and minuses. You can do a search of any of the towns mentioned and get some demographics, and they all have websites and chambers of commerce with loads of information. I live in Americus, Ga. As someone who "retired" years ago but remains busy as a real estate broker, the small town and rural environiment of Americus suits me. But if I were young and trying to make it in a career and raise a family, I probably would opt for a larger city. I happen to think Columbus, Ga., is pretty nice. There are two Georgias: the Atlanta metro area and the rest of Georgia, so keep that in mind when searching for a good place to live.

I would disagree slightly and say there are 3 Georgias...Metro Atlanta, Savannah, and the rest of Georgia. Savannah is not quite like anything else. And to all the Atlanta-haters posting in this thread...there are somewhere around 5 million people who apparently disagree with you...

We've lived in a lot of areas in GA. It really varies here and much depends on what you like personally. I'm a mother of 2, pretty liberal, have a high need for safety and good schools, but also want a good amount of convenience. Here's my tops and bottoms (hope not to offend, but each person has her own opinion):
Best: Peachtree City -- rated top 8 in country just over a year ago. St. Simon's Island Athens Worst: Newton County Rockdale County Camden County Jasper County Wilkinson County |

I think the best place in Georgia to live is Fayette Co. It has the best schools in the state, and low on violent crime, plus if you need somthing from ATL then you can easily drive to get it. I do not recommend living within a 30 mile radius of Macon.

I guess the poster ended up in SC--'replantedinsc'?
I'm glad she is happy there. A bit stifling, jmo. Crescent, Ga is near Darien. MacIntosh County--close to Brunswick. It has been several years since I visited this area but there was not a lot to do there. From posts in another forum it sounds like Pensacola, FL--NW/panhandle is a good coastal community. There is a naval air base there--> http://www.naspensacola.navy.mil/ Visit Pensacola>> http://www.visitpensacola.com/ |

Decades ago my friend's sister, a flight attendant, lived near the airport--maybe College Park--a singles complex. Camp Creek Parkway? That seemed like 'half way to FL'. ![]() |
