Lol you didn't like Augusta because its too much construction. Blame gadot for doing all these projects at once. Not the city

Of course you can dislike Augusta because of the amount of construction going on. That's your opinion in which you are allowed to make. There is alot of construction especially on I-20, I-520 and downtown I agree. But with a metro of 560,000 plus the work is more than needed. They're are ppl in GA who don't like ATL for the same reason. Too big and the construction always happening there.

PEACHTREE CITY! Fayette County schools are excellent. The town is always rated as one of the best places in US to live. Town has 90 miles of golf cart paths and resident use them as alternate mode of transportation - makes the town more like a resort community. It is a wonderful place to raise kids - it is often refered to as a 'bubble' community because the kids do grow up rather sheltered, which can be good, or bad depending on your perspective. We love it here. Moved here from Michigan 7 years ago and we would never go back. We're raising 3 girls and all have done very well in school and community activities.

Ive been around MANY parts of GA. Gwinnet, Macon, WAYYY south and WAYYY north. I REALLY like the area I live. Id reccomend the Acworth, Kennesaw and Woodstock area. Veryyy lowww crime rates. Can safely walk the streets, let your kids be outside, be out late at night, keep your cars in the driveway. VARIOUS colleges and high schools around the area. Kennesaw State University is becoming a VERY nice college. You also have North Metro tech, Appalachian tech, and many more in the area. Acworth, Ga is rated one of the top places in GA to raise a family. Your also about 10 min from Barret parkway where you can find many restraunts, malls, movie theatres, and other fun activities to do!

I agree. I am a big fan of the Acworth/Kennesaw area.

I went to college in Macon for 4 years. It is a terrible place. Nothing to do at all. Not really close to anything interesting either.
Also avoid Savannah (crime is rampant) and Atlanta area. Traffic around Atlanta is obscene. I live in Gainesville, which is northeast of Atlanta. It's ok, but not the best for kids. 33% Mexican at this point.
I heard that Peachtree City is supposed to be nice. Some of the mountain towns that others mentioned could be very boring, depending on what you like.
There is a large regional mall in Buford, called Mall of Georgia, which has everything and then some. Stores all around it too, and restaurants.

What do you need?
My Five Best Places to Live in GA
-Fayette County: the schools are the best, even those that are mostly minority, it's got great southern charm and it's only 30 to 40 minutes from Atlanta.
-Houston County (pronounced 'How-ston)': Warner Robins in particular, it's a military town and extremely diverse. Plus, the schools are pretty awesome and it's only two hours from Atlanta
-Forsyth County: low taxes, close to the local Fortune 500 companies and even better schools than Fayette County.
-Clarke County: Athens and the college, University of GA. It's close enough to Atlanta, but far enough that you feel like you're in the suburbs. Plus, you get to experience that great college town feel
-I'd choose any county north of Atlanta for that Mountain feel. They are all great as you'd get the definite change of seasons along with decent to great schools.
My ONE Worst Place to Live in GA
-Clayton County: this area is outside of Atlanta and they recently lost their school system's accreditation. Don't move there if you have children!
-Any other city/town/county is what you would get anywhere else in the world. You take the good with the bad and deal with it. Each part of Georgia offers different things and you'd have to be more specific about what area you wanted.

hey, that makes too much sense.
reading through this thread, you see towns in one person's top 5 get dropped in another worst 5. Its all a matter of personal taste.

I concur but part of Warner Robins is turning cruddy. The Wal-Mart on Watson is getting to be a dump and in 5 years will be like the Pio Nono Wal Mart in Macon when I worked there in '92.
If you go south of Russell Parkway you get into some wonderful areas. I shop in WR and live in South Bibb. Until we get our own retail community many of us will shop in WR- and even then we might not change .
I agree with you on Clayton County. Just stick a fork in it and see if it's done.
