I am on the fence about moving there because it is a "hot spot" and it seems as if crime tends to seep into great areas, but am willing to give it a try. I wouldn't want to live in Atlanta or anywhere to close to it. If this doesn't work I will have to try a fly over state like Oklahoma or Iowa since the west coast and southwest states are totally ruined.

I'd recommend Gainesville, Cartersville, Rome, Canton, Cumming and the area's just south of Chattanooga like Rossville. All of these are within an easy drive to Atlanta while being far enough away

Augusta is very affordable and to me it’s a very nice area with a lot of amenities. People have been amazingly friendly. We live in west Augusta and it’s very quiet and peaceful. Many of the lots are a good size and it’s very private with lot of vegetation. We aren’t far from some multimillion dollar homes. There are some seedy areas of Augusta, but that is primarily south Augusta. There are a lot of new subdivisions outside of Augusta mostly in Columbia county that are really nice and more seem to be being built. You’re two hours from the mountains, two hours from the beach, and not too far from the Gulf or Disney if that’s your thing. It’s a place definitely worth checking out. The housing market is a bit nuts here right now. You also have Fort Gordon here, so that seems to make it a military town. Columbia county is known to have very good schools as well. My wife will be teaching at A middle school there.

Columbus and the surrounding area would be a good choice. You can find just about anything you need. Close to Atlanta and not far from Florida’s beaches.

Wow, just looked up Rossville on Zillow. Lots of sub $200k houses. Will have to look at that community in the future.

Rossville is essentially a suburb of Chattanooga. Amazing scenery nearby. Chattanooga has a lot to offer. If you are an outdoorsy person you will love it. If you consider the Augusta area, avoid Richmond County and look at Columbia County. Evans is pretty nice.
