Twiggs County Info. Please
Hi,
My husband and I are have moved to the Middle Georgia area and are looking for a place to settle down. We will both be working in Macon but we do not want to live in the city or a subdivision. We have alot of animals and we prefer wide open spaces. We also have family in Laurens county and would like to be on the 16 side of Macon. As we look around, everyone tells us not to look in Twiggs County but nobody really has a reason why other than there's nothing there. Can anyone give me more details? We're not concerned about conveniences, we just want safe, affordable, and quiet. Your help would be GREATLY appreciated!

KTLW,
If you want wide open, quiet and affordable, Twiggs County is not too bad. I just got back from spending the weekend on our 40 acre "going to the country" fish camp there. I would stay away from the town of Jeffersonville though... its basically a poor town with a tad bit of a crime problem. But as far as the things you are looking for, well, there you go. I would hardly call Twiggs County the sticks though. Thirty or forty miles from a town like Macon would not be "sticks" to me... I have lived in the sticks before. I have lived 30 to 40 miles from a town like Jeffersonville before. That jadybug, is the sticks.

The only problem with Twiggs is a lack of community. It is very small and very poor. Almost everyone with a decent income commutes to Macon or Dublin, and does the same for the children by driving them to school elsewhere. If you don't have kids and are looking to live on "your 40" without being disturbed, Twiggs works well.

Mayor,
You can be 30 or so miles from Macon and be in Twiggs County. Not one person asked about the largest building or when. Did you even read a single post in this thread? How about you do and then add something, instead of just spouting off like a... a... politician.

But in no way form or fashion am I dogging Twiggs County I happen to talk to Sheriff Darren Mitchum occasionally, who is a great leader in the Twiggs community. I'm also a frequent vistor of the Macon-Twiggs International Raceway.

Mayor,
No blood, no foul. I sometimes participate in a thread by making some off the cuff remark, but only the silly threads.
KTLW asked a real question and I see no reason to fill this thread full of silliness... there are many others for that.
I am good friends with Judge Brown from Twiggs County. I have never been to the drag strip though, I have never cared for straight track racing. Have a great holiday weekend.
