Ever need help at Home Depot alls you see are arses and elbows when they see you coming. I had to load up 20 50 pound bags of manure and not one person there offered to help. Im not saying I would have definetly needed it but at least ask. It sounds weird but some of the best service I ever got when I was visiting Upstate New York really good help.

I shopped at the Ace Hardware in Ellijay as well as the HD in Blue Ridge and did not find people volunteering to help at either but the most glareing was at the Lowes (more than one bad experience there). In fact I thought about writing a letter to Lowes telling them about my experience with the employees there, but never did. I had bought the house in Ellijay with the idea of possibly moving there at retirement. After the unfriendliness that I experienced, I decided to stay in Huntsville AL where I have been very impressed with the friendliness of the people. And I don't shop at mom and pop stores here -- people in Sam's and Costco go out of there way to help others. Just a difference in attitude. It is very sad to me to see what has happened in my home state of GA. I was born and grew up in Atlanta and had/have relatives in Toccoa, Carnesville, Atlanta area and Valdosta. My sister who still lives in GA laughs and says that I have become an "Alabamian", with more than a little disdain.

I Am Sorry To Hear Ellijay Has Become That Way. But As I Have Said In Other Posts I Only Visited There Once Found Out They Were Breaking It Up Into 1/4 Acre Lots And Sat At A Traffic Light For 3 Changes And Said See Ya To That Town. Any Time You Introduce That Many New People To A Small Town It Is No Longer Small Or Friendly I Guess Johnny Can Vouch For That He Has Seen The Changes First Hand. I Am Really Sorry For His Community. Maybe We Should All Understand Why He Feels So Strongly. Johnny I Agree With You On Upstate Ny And Western Ny Country People They Are Very Nice.

Great Point! I too understand where Johnnycountry is coming from. But again, an attitude like that just goes to perpetuate the problem, and makes for a miserable existance. Better to accept the change than to stew about how it use to be. . . I just don't believe because one has a "Gator shirt" or "Florida License" that they are inherently evil.

Hey I never said they were evil just borderline evil...just joking. Its just that i talk to Floridians like Prichard and hacholly and like them and them being from Florida probally have to hear northeners talk about how great it is up there and sporting all the northern teams flags it gets old. I saw a bumper sticker yesterday and it had a Gator on it but it said "if you like florida and their teams so much why dont you go back to florida" so believe me its not just me. Im gonna go to lunch and its only about 2 miles away and we have a bet that if you go more then two miles and dont see anything with Florida emblems or tags you get a free coke...well Ive never had a free coke. Some Floridians move to Georgia because they like Georgia and want to become part of Georgias culture others are just running from Florida and cant seem to leave it behind.

Alright, lets get back on topic. We all get the point, those in the North Georgia Mountains hate newcomers because they are rude and try to change the locals. We get it. Now get back to the original questions.

Alright yes it gets preety darn humid in the summer time. Theres not to many camp grounds left around here anymore just subdivisions and cabin rentals. I know a lady who works with me who moved from Oregon and she misses it a lot and wants to move back. There...

Hi,
This whole area is remarkably beautiful and the weather is perfect! In the higher elevations, it only gets humid in July and part of August.
Congratulations on finding your brother!
The large lakes, such as Blue Ridge, are all managed by the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) If you go to my web site: Removed you will be able to see photos, maps, weather, and links to all about the area.
Good luck to you!
Sharron

Wow, it does look beautiful. When you say higher elavations what elevation is it exactly. I have been looking to move to Western NC but I have friends who recently moved up your way and they are trying to convince me to consider that area. Is North Ga. weather similar to Western NC in the summer? Any input is appreciated.

I thought the big lakes in N. Georgia were owned by Georgia Power, not TVA.
