Default Northwest Georgia

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be moving to Northwest Georgia here towards the end of June and wanted to know what areas are good to live in, what areas to totally stay away from, etc.? Murray and Whitfield counties are preferable to me, although I would possibly consider others. I would rather buy in the country, but an in town place would be ok if it's a good community.
Any recommendations?
Thanks all!!

If it helps any, no family, single mid twenties male. I'm looking for rural but close to something. I was thinking anywhere around Chatsworth or between Chatsworth and Dalton, maybe south of Dalton. Don't know if I want to move into Dalton, from some of the things I've heard. Are things bad around Dalton too, or is it just in the town limits?

I guess the big question is, what are you doing for work? There's not a whole heck of a lot up that way.

Work is already secured, I'm relocating and taking a transfer with the federal government. Will be working mainly out of Murray and Whitfield counties with occassional travel to others.

Just wanting to get some inside thoughts on where a good place to live would be.

Thanks!

Chatsworth might be o.k., but all of your supplies will probably come from shopping trips to Dalton and vicinity. The crime around Dalton seems to be concentrated around east Dalton. Northwest Whitfield seems to be the more affluent area of the county.

Single mid twenties male, ..you have large percentage of Hispanics in Dalton, large number of people employed by carpet industry, and in Dalton you are less than an hour away from chattanooga which has some clubs, lots of outdoors activities, and nice shopping area at Hamilton Place. Catoosa county just north of whitfield is growing...lots of families moving in. Moving south of Dalton you can be in North Atlanta in 1.5 hrs...

Thanks for all the replies guys, I appreciate it. I've been looking around some on the net, and the Ellijay/east Ellijay area looks pretty awesome, cept for the fact that there doesn't really seem to be much there. So, what would be best (in terms of dating, etc) for a single fella like me.....nice mountain place in the Ellijay area or something closer to Chatt.? I'm thinking Chatt., but it looks like there are a ton of rural neighborhoods and places in Ellijay that aren't incorporated.

Check out Cohutta, GA. It is close to Chattanooga TN which is a very fun weekend city for 20 somethings. From Cohutta, you can also jump on the interstate easily if you need to go to Atlanta. You can look at property at realtor.com using zip code 30710. You should be able to find something very nice at a reasonable price.

Default Bethlehem Georgia

Bethlehem is a wonderful town. We have been here for 9 years. Schools have a great reputation and we only have a caution light in our town. We are only about 20 minutes west of Athens in Barrow County.

I didn't realize Cohutta was that close to Chattanooga. I think, just from things I have seen on-line, that it is a very pretty and rural place?
