what is gainesville like
Looking at relocating to gainseville, is this town still very rural? Is it more developed than cumming, which one is more family friendly/city like?
What is the difference between county schools and city schools?

There's really not much to Gainesville, just a bunch of big box and corporate garbage as far as retail, dining, etc. Schools are pretty bad, and that's REALLY BAD considering a good school in GA is still worse than 80% of the schools in the U.S.
Probably about 50% illegal hispanic. Gang, crime problems because of all the illegals. Huge poultry industry there, kind dirty and dumpy. Make sure you Se Habla Espanol if you move there.

Wow, that is a pretty harsh assessment. (I wish I could dispute it.)

Gainesville
InGA is right. A lot of Mexicans up here and it is pretty dirty in most places. We fortunately live on the northwest corner which is newer and nicer. My wife and I just moved here in November to start our house search because i could transfer with my job, but we have quickly decided that we really don't want to stay here. We have found some very nice houses in Dahlonega and are heading there in the next couple months or so. And its only a 25 minute drive back here to work. Also being right next to 400 yoou can get pretty much anywhere you need. Hope that helps.

Dahlonega Living, What Do U Think? Instead Of Gainesville
So if I had a choice I should moved to dahlonega? Thats were the potential job will be, but I was told to stay out of Dahlonega because my family and I (3kids) would feel isolated and unconnected with the community. Is that not the case? There are some lovely units in Dahlonega about a mile away from job location, but again I don't want to be in the country and want my kids to be afforded a positive community experience. Any other suggestiosn? ?

Dawsonville or Cumming!
There are good schools in Cumming, I live in Cumming in the Coal Mountain area.
I hear Dawsonville is nice too. I went over to Gainesville at Christmas to the Target and it was very spanish.
Cumming is a great town. Mind you I only have lived here since Dec 1st, I really like it. I came from NJ.
