Carroll County is a nice rural area and only 45-60 minutes west of Atlanta.

If you are tring to get away from yankees, umm... I mean floridians, you are looking at the wrong location. N.GA, E.TN and W.NC is covered up with Halfbacks.
(Halfbacks= Yankees who moved to Florida from the great white north because it was too over developed and crowded. After spending 20yrs overdeveloping and over crowding Florida they decide to move halfway back to Yankeeland, and are currently complaining about the lack of malls, chain resturants and Mall Wart) |

Rick, check into Madison/Greensboro area on Lake Oconee. It's about 70 miles either way to Atlanta or Augusta.

Rick, I have a nice piece of land for sale in Franklin Co. You could build a nice home and it is an area like you talked about, small community but is accessable to major cities as well. There is also a golf course less than a mile fron the property. Please call or e mail for more info Scott Carter 706-714-9178 carter@greenwoodland.com. Thank you.

I just want to let you know that "Relocate to rural Georgia" and "within 60-90 minutes of Atlanta" really can only exist if you have a small Lear jet or perhaps a really fast helicopter. I am not trying to be a jerk... really. Anything within a normal 60 minute commute of Atlanta is no longer truly rural. And 90 minutes just barely puts you on the edge. There are plenty of smaller cities and towns within that range, but it has been my experience that these are really just suburbs of the major metropolitan area... which extends way beyond city limits. And again I am not trying to be a smart ___, but what you seek is what EVERYONE already here is seeking. Good luck in your search, but nearly 6 million people have a head start on ya. |

[quote=RickL;12059]Currently living in S. Florida. Tierd of the hurricanes, cost of insurance, NYer's etc. Looking to relocated to a small town in Georgia. I telecommute, so length of commute is not a consideration. I would like to be within 60-90 minutes of Atlanta, just in case something happens to my current job. I grew up in a small town in MD, and want to get back to that way of life. Would like a house with some land (2+ acres). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rick L.[/quote Email me at mfergu3@aol.com for ideas. |
