Default Rome or other NW GA cities??

Hi - my husband, kids, and I are planning to visit Rome later this summer to look at it as a possible place to move in 2 years when I finish school. We prefer to have the kids in public school. Any comments on schools, housing, etc. in the area? Places to see or places to avoid?

Also, if anyone has other suggestions in NW GA area that we should look at on same trip? We have already assessed and decided against Dalton, Chatsworth, Summerville, and Ellijay.

Thanks.

Red face Rome, Ga

My husband went down this past week and said it was a real nice area. The people were friendly. He thought the town had a lot to offer being a smaller.

Rome is a nice area, small and close enough to the larger Metro Atlanta area for things you can't find in Rome. Here's a link for the local paper, hope it'll help: Rome News - Tribune Rome has excellent medical facilities, and I think the schools are pretty good, from what I've heard. Good luck!

Rome is great. Lots of history. Also, the Super Kmart in the middle of the city is awesome

I think parts of Rome are a little dirty aka the kmart. Check out Euharlee. Its between rome and cartersville, Great schools can go to either town. Friendly people, new library, parks etc...
