Family Vacation Suggestions (Atlanta, Savannah, Valdosta: hotels, park, island)

Hello Everyone,

We are trying to decide on a fun, yet not so crowded family vacation for ourselves which includes 2 small children (almost 4 and 16 mos)

I really want to go to Jekyll Island, but I was hoping to make a road trip out of it, but it does not appear to be anything interesting along the way. We would be coming from Atlanta. We also were considering Savannah, then Jekyll Island. Is there anything fun for kids to do in Savannah? Any places inbetween that would be nice.

Also, any suggestions on hotels in either place?

Oh, also if anyone has any ideas for day trips with kids in GA, that would be awesome, too.

I can't really think of anywhere between here and Jekyll that would appeal to kids...if I were four years old again and my parents were dragging me around the squares of Savannah, I'd be showing out in no time. Not really fun for kids.
Jekyll will be fun for them, though...the Summer Waves Water Park just went through a major upgrade, which they'll love.

My kids loved to take trips to the Okefenokee Swamp, especially the canoe trips...it's only about an hour from Jekyll.

Two hours away in Valdosta is the Wild Adventures Safari, Petting Zoo and Water Park.
