Gas prices prompt Perdue to support transit plan | ajc.com
It's about time! Now how about some state dollars for Marta? Sorry about the misspelling of the name.

You have got to be kidding. Take away Metro Atlanta's tax base and you would have a state at least as poor as Mississippi. I am sick of the the tail wagging the dog in this state. I am sick of 150 + so-called counties, many of which are little more than pine trees and dirt, holding the economic engine of the state hostage. It is an absurd system, and needs to be changed.

That's not what I'm saying. Marta benefits those who live in metro Atlanta (Fulton & Dekalb to be specific). No need for a taxpayer in Bainbridge to pay for it.
Atlantans need to address Atlanta issues.
I do agree there are way too many counties here, and I've long advocated for reducing that number by 50%.

You don't think that MARTA benefits Cobb, Douglas, Cherokee, Forsyth, Gwinnett, not to mention the legions of regional tourists that utilize it? If you don't believe this, go check the license plates in the parking lots at North Springs, Doraville and Indian Creek stations.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. However, don't my metro Atl tax dollars pay for stuff in Bainbridge, like state roadwork for example? Also, and this may have changed, hopefully it has, but there used to be golf courses in rural areas subsidized by the state!

MARTA is supported n part by taxpayer dollars in Fulton & Dekalb counties. That doesn't mean people from anywhere else can't ride, after paying the fee of course, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

State roadwork is paid for by all state taxpayers. I'm specifically talking about an entity that receives funding through ridership..and by the taxpayers of Fulton & Dekalb counties (and maybe some fed funding for good measure).
I never heard of rural golf courses being funded by the state. I smell pork!

TaxingTennessee: Pork on Ga Golf Courses-FORE!!!
This is the kind of legislature we have, one that will subsidize public golf but not public transit! Idiots!
