Looking for a town in N. Georgia for a move.
Looking for an educated safe town in Northern Georgia to move to. We work from home and like privacey.
Would like country club, hunt club and or yacht club close. Would like some acreage with a private lake/ pond.
Planning to come out next month and drive around checking out areas.
We are in Los Angeles now and lived a lot of our life in Detroit/ Pheonix area. I have lived in Huntsville, AL and traveled/ enjoyed the south.
we are done with the Traffic, pollution and crowds in LA.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and Time!

You might try Rome, GA and the Rome Sailing Club (Silver Creek). You will get more land for your money than anywhere around Lake Lanier. And Gainesville has a little more reputation for crime with the chicken-house laborers around.

Tiger or Clayton,Ga i live in clayton and love it, we have a golf course/country club not 3 miles from town, tiger is the smaller of the 2 towns with maybe 300 people but its less than 4 miles from clayton, which has everything you need, a new home depot, super walmart numerous restaraunts and awesome people, very low crime.Just a hope skip away from north carolina and south carolina as well.

I agree with RedWhiteBlack. The Rabun County area has gorgeous scenery, a small town feel, and beautiful sites on numerous lakes. Although not private lakes, one can easily find a private setting in the mountains or on the lakes in this area.
Very few residents, but a large amount of money flowing around that area. So, you have the upscale rural setting, not the "Deliverance" style rural setting. Even though many of the river scenes in the movie Deliverance were actually filmed on the Chattooga River in this area! Good luck with your move. My parents recently moved from the Huntington Beach area and were amazed at how far a housing dollar goes and how far you can actually travel in one hour's time!
