Default Brunswick, GA - interracial couple/family

My wife and I are considering a move to the Brunswick, GA area. We are an interracial couple (white/black) with our first child on the way. Of course there is prejudice and misunderstanding everywhere, but how accepting are people in that area of interracial couples/families? Anyone with any bad experiences?

I know Brunswick pretty well (and like it a lot); while what you say about prejudice and misunderstanding is undeniably true, I think that compared to other GA towns its' size it would come off as relatively open-minded. After all, it's headquarters to FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) and has had a pretty large influx of residents from other regions of the country.

Brunswick hasn't been my favorite place to live but it is not because of racism. My husband and I are an interracial couple as well with a beautiful daughter. Though there are plenty of racists in the area especially since we are smack dab in the middle of the bible belt, there are also just as many understanding and non-ignorant people in the area as well. I have yet to have a bad experience in the area regarding my relationship with my husband or my daughter. It isn't always the case but people do well to keep their mouths shut. You will probably experience more prejudice from people you know rather than people shopping alongside you at Wal*Mart or something.
