If you decided to live in one of these cities, which would it be?

Lived in Charlottesville area. Beautiful, very congested now. Cost of living is high. People are friendly. Schools are great. Lived in Louisa county. Within 20 minutes of Charlottesville. Remember a great restaurant. Wood Grill mmmmmm.

I am familiar with all three and prefer Athens. I think it has the nicest downtown of the three.. and it is also the most affordable which is a big plus.

Great question I'm thinking the same but have only been to Charlottesville very briefly. Affordability of housing is huge for me so I'd lean towards Athens. I'm at the age where I want to buy and having a low house payment is huge for me.

I think Athens is kind of unique, b/c many of the other hip college towns with great music scenes, close to nice outdoor stuff, etc.. are much more expensive to buy a house (Charlottesville, Austin, Boulder CO, Madison WI, Burlington VT).

I would choose Chapel Hill. Very nice hospitals and bio-tech companies in the area and unlike the other two, you can go out of the city limits and still be in an area with a fairly liberal vibe.

Chapel Hill--but only because I lived in Cary for a short time and absolutely loved it when I was there. I also have gotten used to living in a larger metro area and the other two cities are too small for me. Charlottesville would be my second choice--beautiful setting, historical, and charming.
