conyers, ga (East Point, Alpharetta, Duluth: rental car, apartment, rental)

what's conyers like? Also how's rockdale county on the whole.? I'm a single guy Soschools are'nt in the equation. My job will probably be at hartsfield-jackson, so a few words about the commute would be great. The reasonI'm looking at Conyers is because its diverse (I'm black), and it does'nt seem too "hood" for a lack of a better word. I was looking at S. Fulton cty., and Gwinnett Counties as well, but I'm still undecided. Please Help!! Looking to move in July.

P.S. If there are any good mixed communities I'd be open to hearing about them as well.

Conyers is a very nice area in my opinion. I have gone to georgia on many occasions scouting the neighborhoods or communities i would like to reside. I spent 3 days in Conyers, (Rockdale County) I would say it is a very nice community. It is not at all "hood" I did not see any areas that resembled "hood" characteristics. What you determine as "hood" may be different from my perspective. I have considered Conyers as well as other communities and I have to decide rather soon as I will be moving to Georgia from Wisconsin in a few months. I would say take with a grain of salt some of the responses here,mine included. I would suggest taking some time and spend a little money take a week vacation and visit Georgia. Get a map and rental car and drive! That is exactly what I did and I drove around and observed things with my own eyes. This will determine what areas to concentrate when considering moving. I also stayed in Georgia for a few weeks on a separate vacation and I concentrated my efforts in areas that I liked the most. I was told that some areas were bad and when I visited I had a positive view of the area that was described negatively.

So if it is at all possible go and visit Georgia. Also if you should decide to move get an apartment first for a few months. Apt leases are 3,6,9, 12 month leases in georgia because people I take it move around alot. Get an apartment and this way you are able to learn the area and decide after living there where you want to live or buy a home. hope this helps.

Conyers has beautiful homes. It seems peaceful and it is 30 minutes from the A. Beware of ATL drivers and traffic, that is all I have to say as well as get some insurance on your car because ATL drivers are crazy. conyers is in Rockdale County and it is the only city in Rockdale. Gwinett has a good school system. You may want to consider Duluth. Maybe the Fulton side of Duluth, so you can be closer to South Fulton, I think it is near South, I am not real sure. Best High Schools in Fulton are Alpharetta High and Northview, Chattahooche, and maybe Duluth.

Also, I am sorry to say this but if you are looking to work at Hartsfield-Jackson, then you may be a little ways from there if you are considering Conyers. College Park, East Point and Clayton county is really close to the airport and that is a great commute time, but do not choose to live in Clayton because Clayton has a high crime rate and they have break-ins, shootings, robberies, it has a hood feel. Be careful and never go through those areas at night.

FYI: Conyers is the site of one of the nations largest Syphilis out breaks in 1996. If you are planning on doing any dating while you live in the area it is important to keep this in mind.
