Default Augusta apartment recs.?

I don't think this is a repeat post, but I apologize if it is.

I'll be moving from south metro Atlanta to the Augusta area within a month, due to a job I've been offered in Jefferson Co./Louisville. While I'd like to say I could live in the Louisville area--cheap, picturesque, etc. etc.--I think I'd be bored within a week. Therefore, I'm planning on getting an apartment in the Augusta area and thanking the oil gods that my car gets 35 mpg.

My question is rather simple: have you heard anything about/lived in Willow Ridge Townhomes, Rocky Creek Apartments, Ridgecrest, or any of the ATC properties? At the moment, Willow Ridge and Rocky Creek are looking the best because of several reviews I've read. I haven't actually toured any of these yet, so I'm going on sight unseen. Ridgecrest has middling reviews while I can't find a single review on any of the ATC properties (strange...and suspicious).

Above all else, I'm looking to live in a good complex in a good area of town; (I might have heart issues if something were to happen to my car, for example.) Any suggestions? (Btw, any further suggestions have to accept pets--no question about that.)

ATC does a great job managing their complexes. They also take small pets, with a deposit. Their website is Apartments - ATC Development.

I'm not familiar with all of the complexes, but Spicewood, Sanctuary, and Iron Horse are nice places. Make an appointment with them, tour the complexes, and pick the location that suits you best.

I live in Iron Horse and it is a nice affordable community. I pay 500 for a large one bedroom. The only drawback is that it is close to railroad tracks. Other than that though, safe, clean and close to most everything.

The apartments you mentioned are definately not in the best part of Augusta.. As far as Augusta goes.. the westside and columbia county is your best bet, but that's a long hike from your work in Jefferson County. Another option to consider is Thomson in McDuffie County. It's actually closer to where you will be working.. and Thomson has more restaurants and things to do then Jefferson County.. and since its on I20 you can easily get to Augusta

Iron Horse is a nice complex ( train noise can be a problem) .. it's on the westside of town. If you choose to live in Augusta, you will want to stay on the westside.

Thomson seems decent, but I can't even find more than 2 apartment complexes online, much less any reviews. I know I could easily tour them, but past experiences have led me to depend on the opinions of others as well. Also, Louisville isn't THAT much further from Augusta, vs. Thomson. No need to hit I-20.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. One thing: it was mentioned that none of my choices are in good areas of town. All of the complexes are on the west side of Augusta (except for Willow Ridge), albeit perhaps not outside the perimeter. What exactly is wrong with these areas?

I was kind of puzzled by that statement myself. Rocky Creek and Ridgecrest are in a very nice area off Stevens Creek Rd. bordering Columbia County. It's about as far west of Augusta as you can get. (I'm not familiar with the area Willow Ridge is in.)

When I'm trying to decide between comparable apartment complexes, management is a big factor. I've been very pleased with ATC. I don't know who manages the complexes you're interested in - they may be just as good. Hopefully, someone will volunteer some information on them.

Good luck!

I wasthinking of the Rocky Creek area.. which is actually around Regency Mall (definately NOT a good area).. Stevens Creek Rd area is just fine.. BUt just remember to get to Louisville, you will have to first drive across Augusta, before you even make it to US 1. YOu are talking about a 45 mile drive ONE way... so with gas prices what they are, hopefully your new employer will be paying you well.

Drive could be worse. When I lived on the soutside of Atlanta, It took me almost an hour and a half to drive 25 miles to my job at the airport!

Also, check out Arborside. I think that is one of ATC's developments. Its located of Washington Rd.

River Creek is another one, but they have had a couple buildings burn down over the past 9 yrs. Kinda scares me.

Ramblewood is located off Center West Pkwy as River Creek is.

I agree with the train track noise with Ridgecrest. Windsong Condos are nice, but RIGHT ON train tracks.

If you are looking in Martinez/Evans (Columbia County) There is Ridge Crossing, off 1-20 and South Belair Rd. Westwood Club is nice,

Try this link too. Augusta Apartments
