There are Costco and Sam Club as well in Duluth if you like whole discount club.

I would say the food cost is about the same since my parents live in CT.

But gas is definitely cheaper. That's big thing when my parents visit me.

Yeah, I noticed the differnece in gas when I was there for a visit two weeks ago. I know here my salary of 42k does not give me extra room to breath, what about there with same salary. From what I was told from HR I will carry my salary over with me.

Ashley Home Furniture has great prices on furniture for any room in the house. It is middle quality, and lasts a long time. I bought my son's bedroom suit and our living room furniture there, and haven't had any problems. They have a good selection and resemble what the expensive furniture stores have.

You should also look at TJ Maxx and Homegoods for smaller furniture items. They have good choices for side tables, book shelves, area rugs, chairs, decorative items.... Not all stores have a great selection of furniture. The Homegoods near North Point mall in Alpharetta is a good one to browse.

Default Moved from PA to GA

Hi there, I moved from PA to Georgia 6 1/2 years ago. First off, you definitely want to go to Ikea, but I would not recommend it on a weekend. You'll be able to decorate your entire place and probably stay under budget. I just redid my two children's rooms. The only thing with Ikea, you have to beware because many times hardware is not included with your purchase.

There are many things here that are cheaper than the north and many that are more expensive. I think manicures and pedicures are a lot cheaper, but whew, hair cuts and colors are a lot more expensive. Gas is cheaper, but daycare it outrageous if you need it.

The shopping is the best with so many choices.

I live in Cumming/Forsyth County, where we have some of the cheapest taxes around. The population is slowing moving north from Atlanta. When I moved here, Forsyth County was the fastest growing county in the nation. We are still in the top 5.

I love all the newness with buildings and schools. You don't see old, delapitated buildings or schools here.

I love it, and you couldn't pay me to move north again--even though I'm still a Yankee at heart! We have four seasons here, and I love it!

Good luck,
Michelle

I think the cost of food is higher here. I used to go to Shoprite in NJ. My grocery Bill was like $75 a week. Here it is like $120 a week. The produce is really expensive here.
